Photo Show Rules And Regulations

**Show Fees Will Be Waived For 2010**

General Overview: The BMHR and SMHR photo shows are online only and open to any model animal produced by Breyer and Peter Stone.  Models will only need to be registered if they are going to be entered into the club photo shows. Photo show entries only need to be submitted once and will roll over to each show automatically unless the entrant decides to delete them from the show.  Models must be owned by the entrant and any model sold will need to be removed from the shows. Please feel free to email with any questions.

Dapples/Ponies and Plush animals are currently not eligible for showing. If there is sufficient interest in these models then show section will be offered.

Guidelines: Thanks to Cynthia Jameson of IMEHA and our own Steph Michel, we now have comprehensive guidelines on site to help you properly enter performance, breed, and color classes. It's strongly recommended that you check out our Color, Breed, and Performance Guidelines before you enter your next show. It's well worth your time!

Class Lists: Class lists can be found on the main Photo Show home page.

DATES: Entry windows will be continuous.  Entries will be accepted at anytime.  Any entries submitted after the current show is sent to the judges will be held until judging is finished.  A check window will be announced when new entries and corrections are uploaded to the next show.  It is strongly recommended that you join our Yahoo! Group. so you can receive all of our show notices, changes, etc.  Results will be posted on our web site.

JUDGING CRITERIA: Only one photo per horse per class (unless otherwise stated on class list and guidelines). Models will be judged first on their condition: lack of breaks, scratches, etc. given their age. Following this, they will be judged on how well they meet the standards of the class entered. Consideration will also be given as to how well the horse is presented: clarity and focus of the photo, how well the horse fills the frame, presence or absence of distracting background material, etc. If your horse can't be seen clearly it can't win no matter how beautiful it is! For information on the specific requirements for each class please see our  Color, Breed, and Performance Guidelines web pages.

JUDGES:  To volunteer, please contact Steph Michel.  Judges are experienced model or live horse showers who volunteer their time and effort to the club. Be sure to thank them for all their hard work! In order to be a BMHR judge, you must have a minimum of one year model horse showing experience or have real life horse experience. Familiarity with Breyer model horses is also required. No judge, or any member of the judge's immediate family, may participate in a BMHR show that the judge is currently presiding over. Due to the nature of on-line showing, the judge's photos may appear on the on-line entrants' page, but she/he may still not include them in the show itself.

Judges will have 3 weeks to judge their shows.  If you can not finish judging within the requested time you may forfeit your eligibility to participate in the Judge's Prize drawing at the end of the year!

Anyone who judges a BMHR Monthly Show will get their name put in to a raffle to be one of two judges to be able to choose a prize from our end of year awards in appreciation for helping out!

We need volunteer judges! Contact us today to lend a hand!

DIVISIONS: Two divisions exist in each show. Division 1 (Novice) is for members who have been showing for less than two years. Division 2 (Open) is for members with more than two years' experience. You may enter only one division per show. Members are free to enter a higher division than the one they are currently qualified for, but may not then return to the lower division.

MAIL-IN PHOTO ENTRY INFORMATION:   Due to lack of mail-in entries and the continuing rise of postage, we have changed to an online only show.

Photo Show Entry INFORMATION: Photo show entries will be submitted by using our online submission forms. There is no limit to the total number of images you may enter. Our online submission forms can be found on the main Photo Show home page.  Please make sure your images are no wider than 500 pixels on the longest side and in .jpg (.jpeg) format. Any models to be entered in the photo shows need to be registered so that it's information can be added to the show database. Information on how to register can be found further down this page and registration forms can be found on the main Photo Show home page.

If the horse's info has changed from the time it was registered please let the registrar know so that the show information is correct!  Online entries roll-over into the next month's show automatically so you do not have to re-enter each month.  The only time you need to re-submit a photo is if you need to replace a photo currently in the show.

RESULTS: Results will list the number of entrants and place 1st through 6th in each class. A copy of the official results go to the On-Line Show Manager and will be available on our web site.

AWARDS: No ribbons or other awards are issued at monthly BMHR shows. Awards will be given out for our Championship show which is for qualified horses.  A horse qualifies for the Championship show by placing 1st or 2nd in a regular BMHR show.  Prizes can be seen on our Prize Donation Page.  :-)

PRIZE DONATIONS:  We welcome prize donations and if you have anything you would like to donate please contact us .  Both money and hobby related items are welcome and any prize you wish to donate does not have to be Breyer.  Many of our members collect and show other makes and models and would love a chance to win all sorts of model tack, Peter Stone items, North Light items, Custom models, etc.  If you aren't sure just drop us a note!  As we receive donations they will be listed on our Prize Donation Page.

Registrations: All models to be entered in the photo shows need to be registered.  The information needs to be added to the show database so that the show program can produce the pages.

ELIGIBILITY: Any model animals (horse, pony, donkey, mule, unicorn, pegasus, dog, cow, etc) made by the Breyer Model Horse Company (Reeves International, Inc.) or Peter Stone that is in original finish, repainted or customized is eligible to register and participate in all club activities. Customized models MUST have started out life as a Breyer or Stone, not as an original sculpture or other brand of model horse, but otherwise anything goes. Please be sure to select which mold he was when he started, either by mold name or model number, when you register if you know it.

DUPLICATE NAMES: No two models shall bear the same name within the registry. To avoid duplications, the registrar will assign members ID initials based on their stable names (or the owner's initials if there isn't a stable name) and the ID initials will be added to the end of their model's name for all club activities (i.e., Simon Says (BG)).

HOW TO REGISTER: Simply fill out the registration forms found on the main Photo Show home page.

If you are not sure what model number or mold your model is you can check out the ID Your Model pageemail us, or post to our Yahoo! Group.  We also provide a Color Guideline page to help you determine your model's color (Breyer is notorious for mislabeling their model colors) and we would be more than happy to help you with breed ideas.
